Coming Together: The Heart of the Holidays in Waconia

As the twinkling lights shine bright in City Square Park after the Old-Fashioned Tree Lighting, we’re reminded of what makes the Waconia area special: our shared traditions, connections, and the care we show one another.

This season, we were inspired by keynote Joe Schmit’s message of  choosing a word to live by and how compassion and connection can strengthen our community. Words like kindness, gratitude, or connection can guide us to make a silent impact that can leave a lasting mark on others.

Belonging and Making an Impact

Joe reiterated that we all have the power to make an impact, big or small. The holidays are the perfect time to act on that power to make a difference.

  • Adopt a family or participate in a local giving tree or toy drop program.
  • Shop local, supporting the businesses that invest in a big way in our
    community.
  • Reach out – a handwritten note or a surprise visit can brighten someone’s day.
  • Participating in chamber and/or community events to connect with others
    and build relationships.

Let’s continue to make Waconia a place of belonging and strength. Whether you’re spreading holiday cheer through small acts of kindness, supporting local businesses, or reflecting on your word for the new year, every action makes a difference.

You are what makes this a wonderful community and what helps us to come together. Let’s embrace the spirit of the holidays into the new year, stronger and more connected than ever.

Warm wishes,
-Christine
